Kicheche Mara North, long known as Kicheche Mara Camp, is a small tented camp in Acacia Valley in the middle of the 73,000-acre Mara North Conservancy, which borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Kicheche works only in private conservancies, and this camp has nine tents and one family suite of two en-suite bedrooms joined by a lounge, looking over the Olare Orok stream and the western escarpment. The camp is unfenced, and animals often walk straight through it. Conservancy rules allow no more than five vehicles at a sighting, the guides are Silver-rated, and each Kicheche camp in the Mara keeps one Land Cruiser fitted for photographers, with a side that drops down for low angles; back in camp there is an editing lounge with large screens. Guided bush walks, a night of wild camping, a visit to the Mara Elephant Project and balloon flights are on offer, and the migration herds usually arrive in the Mara around July and stay until about October. The camp runs on solar power around the clock, holds a Gold eco-rating and has Starlink Wi-Fi. It closes for the long rains, from 1 April to 23 May in 2026, and is a 30-minute drive from Mara North airstrip.
