Classic Northern Circuit Safari

Depart Arusha and drive south-west to Tarangire National Park, famous for its ancient baobab forests and large elephant herds. Enjoy an afternoon game drive through the park's diverse landscape of savannah, seasonal swamps, and riverine woodland. Settle into your lodge near the park as the sun sets over the Tarangire River.

Spend the entire day exploring Tarangire's varied ecosystems with morning and afternoon game drives. The park is home to some of the largest elephant herds in Africa, and over 550 bird species make it a paradise for birdwatchers. Explore the Silale Swamps and the southern reaches where predators often congregate around waterholes.

Drive north to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping in the vibrant village of Mto wa Mbu for a local lunch and a glimpse of one of Tanzania's most culturally diverse communities. Continue climbing the forested outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater to your lodge perched on the crater rim with breathtaking views into the caldera below.

Descend 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's most remarkable wildlife arenas. The 260 km² caldera floor supports approximately 25,000 large animals including all of the Big Five. Drive past Lake Magadi where flamingos gather in pink clouds, and search for the critically endangered black rhino in the open grasslands.

Cross the Ngorongoro highlands and descend into the vast Serengeti ecosystem, where the endless plains stretch to the horizon in every direction. Enjoy a game drive en route as you enter the park through the Naabi Hill Gate, passing through short-grass plains favoured by cheetahs. Arrive at your camp in the central Seronera Valley, the wildlife crossroads of the Serengeti.

Experience the Serengeti at its best with dedicated morning and afternoon game drives through the central and eastern sectors. The Seronera area is renowned for big cat sightings — lions lounging on kopjes, leopards draped in sausage trees, and cheetahs stalking the open plains. Depending on the season, you may witness river crossings as herds move between grazing grounds.

Begin the journey back to Arusha with a stop at Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions and vast flocks of flamingos along the alkaline lakeshore.
