Tarangire National Park Day Trip

Tarangire National Park is one of northern Tanzania’s best-kept secrets — a land of towering thousand-year-old baobab trees, vast golden savannahs, and some of the largest elephant herds in East Africa. Groups of fifty or more elephants can be seen drinking, playing, and dust-bathing along the Tarangire River, while giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and buffalo roam the surrounding plains. The park also supports healthy populations of lion, leopard, and the elusive lesser kudu. Depart Arusha at approximately 6:30 AM for the two-hour drive south to Tarangire. Morning and afternoon game drives cover the riverine habitats and open savannah.
