Feel the wilderness beneath your feet
Multi-day walking safari through pristine wilderness areas
A multi-day walking safari strips the experience back to its purest form: you, the bush, and the sounds of the African wild. Travelling on foot through some of Tanzania's most pristine wilderness areas, you'll cover 10–15 kilometres per day at a relaxed pace, stopping to examine animal tracks, identify medicinal plants, and watch birds that vehicle-based safaris simply drive past. An armed ranger and a certified walking guide lead the group. The ranger ensures your safety in big-game country, while the guide interprets every sign the bush offers — a broken branch that reveals an elephant's feeding direction, dung beetles rolling their prize, or the alarm call of a go-away bird signalling a predator nearby. Nights are spent in mobile fly-camps set up by a support crew who travel ahead. You'll sleep under canvas to the sounds of hyenas calling and lions roaring in the distance — close enough to feel the wild, safe enough to sleep soundly. This experience is ideal for fit, adventurous travellers who want to move beyond the windscreen and engage with Africa on its own terms. Itineraries run through the Selous (Nyerere), Ruaha, or the western Serengeti corridors where foot traffic is light and wildlife encounters feel genuinely wild.
