Travel that gives back to the wild
Hands-on conservation activities including wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching patrols, habitat restoration, and community-based conservation programmes in Tanzania.
Conservation is not a spectator sport. Our conservation experiences put you in the field alongside the rangers, researchers, and community workers who protect Tanzania's wildlife and wild places every day. These are meaningful, hands-on programmes where your time and effort make a measurable difference. Choose from a range of conservation activities based on your interests, fitness level, and available time. Wildlife monitoring programmes have you tracking elephants in Tarangire, identifying rhinos in Ngorongoro, or recording bird populations in the Usambara Mountains. Anti-poaching awareness sessions take you behind the scenes of ranger operations — understanding patrol routes, snare removal, and the intelligence networks that protect vulnerable species. Habitat restoration projects focus on tree planting in degraded areas, invasive species removal, and water-source protection in wildlife corridors. Community-based conservation programmes connect you with villages that coexist with wildlife, exploring how beekeeping fences deter elephants from crops, how livestock management reduces predator conflict, and how tourism revenue funds local schools and clinics. Each programme is run in partnership with established conservation organisations and national park authorities. You'll receive a briefing on the conservation challenge, training in the specific techniques you'll use, and a debrief on the impact of your contribution. Conservation experiences range from single half-day activities (a tree-planting session or a ranger-led anti-poaching walk) to multi-day immersive programmes (a week of elephant research or rhino monitoring). They can be added to any safari itinerary or booked as standalone trips.
