Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is the world's premier mountain gorilla destination, home to roughly half of all remaining mountain gorillas. Trekking through its ancient, mist-shrouded montane rainforest to sit with a gorilla family is one of the most profound wildlife experiences on Earth.
Spanning 331 square kilometres of dense, undulating montane and lowland forest, Bwindi supports 12 habituated gorilla groups available for trekking and 1 for research habituation. The forest also harbors 120 mammal species, 350 bird species, and 220 butterfly species — making it one of Africa's most biodiverse areas.
