Porini Rhino Camp
Porini Rhino Camp
Porini Rhino Camp is a small eco camp run by Gamewatchers Safaris inside Ol Pejeta Conservancy, set in woodland along a seasonal riverbed almost exactly on the equator. It has seven guest tents and two family tents, for no more than 14 guests plus children, which makes it a very different stay from the bigger camps on the conservancy. Game drives, by day and by night, are in open-sided 4x4s with a guide and a spotter, and a photographic hide overlooks a waterhole near camp. Walks with Maasai guides, bush lunches, sundowners and stargazing fill the rest of the day, and Ol Pejeta's own experiences can be added: meeting the northern white rhinos, lion tracking and an outing with the anti-poaching dogs. The camp is Gold eco-rated, runs on solar power and has no permanent structures, so the land would recover within months if it were taken down. Children over eight are welcome. Porini Rhino closes for the long rains, from 16 April to 31 May in 2026. Guests fly to Kamok airstrip, with free transfers to camp, or drive about three and a half hours from Nairobi.
