Day 1
Arrive in
Tanzania
where you
will be met
at the
airport by
us. We will
take you to
your
overnight
lodging in
Arusha and
get you
properly
settled.
Depending on
the option
you chose,
you will fly
or drive to
the Ndutu
wildlife
area. Ndutu
is in the
southern
part of the
Serengeti
amidst
umbrella-thorn
acacia
trees. At
this time of
the year
Ndutu is
host to many
international
photographers
and film
crews. The
prime
attraction
is the
enormous
wildebeest
herds in
their annual
migration
through the
country.
Day 2-5
Your base of
operation
will be at
the Savannah
Tented Camp.
This type of
camping may
be new to
you. You
have a
verandah in
front of
your tent
with
comfortable
chairs and
tables – a
place to
relax, bring
your diary
or bird list
up-to-date,
or watch the
birds and
animals that
frequent the
camp area.
Your tent is
large and
carefully
organized
and has an
attached
bathroom
with plumbed
washbasin,
lavatory and
shower. Hot
water is
available
throughout
the day.
Your butler
will provide
you with
drinks and
will see
that your
laundry is
done and
returned to
you
promptly. He
will wake
you in the
mornings
with tea or
coffee and a
biscuit/cookie.
After your
arrival from
Arusha you
will move
into your
tent and
then enjoy
lunch before
an afternoon
game drive
through the
wonders of
the Ndutu
area. On the
following
days of your
Ndutu stay
you will
leave the
camp at dawn
to see the
wildlife
activities.
As the
mornings are
cool, many
of the
animals who
are most
active at
night will
still be out
and about.
Cheetah and
lion will be
hunting,
along with
the rarer
African wild
cat,
bat-eared
fox and
honey
badger.
While Ndutu
has a
variety of
wildlife, it
has a very
large
population
of gazelles,
making it a
prime
hunting area
for cheetah.
There are
many types
of birds in
the area as
well. The
wildebeest
spectacular
will be all
around you
and as far
into the
distance as
your eye
(even with
binoculars)
can see. The
migration
also
includes
large groups
of zebra
For some of
these early
morning
adventures,
your camp
chef will
have
prepared
your
breakfast;
and at a
morning’s
stop in the
bush, your
guide will
serve it to
you. On
other
mornings you
will return
to camp for
breakfast.
After lunch
and your
mid-day
relaxation
in camp,
with the
herds of
wildebeest,
gazelle and
zebra
nearby, you
will venture
again in the
Ndutu
wilderness
until
returning at
sunset to
your camp.
There will
be a
campfire
where you
can meet to
discuss the
activities
of the day
and what is
planned for
the next
day. Close
the day with
a wonderful
meal in a
spectacular
setting.
The spacious
verandah in
front of
your room is
furnished
with
comfortable
safari
chairs and
tables - the
perfect
retreat for
a relaxing
moment
watching a
weaver bird
building its
nest in a
nearby
Acacia tree,
a herd of
impala
grazing
quietly only
meters away,
or simply
relaxing and
listening to
the sounds
of the
African
bush.
Bathroom is
complete
with a
dressing
table with
fully
plumbed
washbasin,
lavatory and
showers – a
new, and
often
surprising,
interpretation
of
‘camping’.
Hot water is
available
throughout
the day and
evening and,
like your
laundry,
morning tea
or in fact
your every
need will be
arranged by
your Butler
allowing for
a refreshing
wash, shower
or maybe a
shave on the
verandah of
your tent.
Dinner &
overnight at
Serengeti
Savannah
Camp
Day 6
Following
breakfast,
you will
depart for
Arusha and
your onward
connections.
Day rooms
will be
available at
Kia Lodge if
you have an
evening
departure
and
transportation
to the
airport will
also be
available.

"The mobile tents were a special
way to enjoy the bush and we
highly recommend this
experience. We are still talking
about the meals we had while in
camp!" Judy & Lee Paker |
